Evelyn Marie Bradac, 101, of Great Falls, a former rancher, died Saturday, November 28, 2009, at her home of natural causes. Evelyn was born in September of 1908, and passed away November 2009 — after 101 years of life. What follows is an open letter of joy, love, and appreciation from her family. Dear Great Evelyn, as one of your great grandchildren aptly named you. Since the day each of us was born you have been there; a constant anchor in a world of change. Now in what seems like an instant, you are gone. Your life has spanned from the homestead era to the age of the internet. You have witnessed the death of almost all of your generation, including your husband Alois Bradac and your treasured friend, Bart Cristaforo. You have been daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. You have successfully taught rural school, planted gardens, hatched chickens, grown wheat, raised Herefords, and managed your bank accounts. You have whipped us unmercifully at Rummy, shown us your Irish temper, thrown uncooperative hearing aids against the refrigerator, and maintained a supply of beauty products that would rival a retail outlet. You have kept one of us by your side until she was ready, despite her handicaps, to go on without you. Unfailingly positive, you have loved all of us unconditionally, with absolute loyalty and fierce defense. You have demonstrated total confidence in us and have given us wise counsel. Your words of wisdom engrained in us forever are: be self reliant, take life as it comes, maintain flexibility, know our limits, appreciate our friends, and value hard work. Now it is time to part. Thank you for seeing the beauty in each of us. As you continue on your journey, goodbye for now, Great Evelyn. We will follow your lead, cherish the memories, and love you forever. Your Family,Daughters Joan Bradac of Great Falls, Lois (Terry) Richardson of Missoula, Susan Wenski of Tacoma, WA, and Mary Lyn Reitz of Cascade, grandchildren Robyn (Joe), Renee, Kris (Ben), Liisa (Emmanuel), Rusty (Sandi), Phil (Jennifer), Joe (Tracy), Matt (Dawn), Rita (Bart), Mel (Paul), Marie (Rob) and Mike (Pam); and great grandchildren River, Fisher, Finneas, Evelyn, Remi, Wylie, Maddie, Elizabeth, Bella, Doc, Ty, Deven, Austin, Jake, Emma, Bailey, Garrett, Nick, Jackie, Ryan, Helen, Erich and Cooper. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Alois Bradac. The family suggests memorials to Peace Hospice, 1101 26th St S, Great Falls, MT 59405
