Evie passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Custer Regional Senior Care in Custer, SD. Evelyn Margaret Miller was born March 5, 1923, the daughter of Leo and Violet (Abercrombie) Miller of Musselshell, MT. Due to Leo’s job with Milwaukee Railroad, Evie was raised up and down the railroad line from Musselshell to Mobridge. She attended school in Musselshell and graduated from Sumatra, MT. Evie and Meldon Lecoe were united in marriage. To this union three children were born: Larry, Teresa and Thomas. Meldon worked for the Milwaukee Railroad, so the couple moved and raised their family from Musselshell to Mobridge until 1965, when they made their home in Marmarth. Evie took a job taking care of the Marmarth Bunkhouse for the Milwaukee Railroad and in later years ran it for the Marmarth Historical Society. She directed many productions in the Mystic Theatre and acted in many as well. Evie enjoyed poker, playing pool and socializing. She had a bond with the rails, pulling many pranks and being the recipient of many herself. Evie was a jack of all trades and the master of none. She especially loved her family, always taking the sides of her daughters-in-law and son-in-law during any argument. She was never without a friend or had an enemy to say the least. She was a long time member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Alter Society. Evie is survived by her son, Thomas (Roxi) of Marmarth; daughter, Teresa (Bob) Etzkorn of Custer, SD, sister, Emma O’Dea of Belle Fourche, SD; daughter-in-law, MaryAnn Lecoe of Marmarth; six grandchildren, Troy, Brad, Amanda, Bryce, Amber, Steven; and 16 great-grandchildren, Mariah, Andrew, Dalton, Hope, Halle, Ashton, Sage, Brie, Kadon, Trevin, Mason, Tieayna, Maycie, Reese, Carson, and Olive. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Violet; her husband, Meldon; son, Larry; and brother, Bill Miller.
