A Funeral service for Fern Mae Belland, 87, of Dickinson, formerly of New England, will be 11:00 a. m. , Friday, September 11, 2015, at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in New England with Pastor Bruce Peterson officiating. Burial will take place in Rainy Butte Cemetery. Visitation for Fern will be 4:00 p. m. to 6:00 p. m. , Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson and one hour prior to the service at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in New England. Fern Mae passed away September 5, 2015, at Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck, ND. Fern Mae was born February 17, 1928 in New England, ND, the daughter of Ellert and Anna G. (Nessemo) Erickson. She graduated from New England High School with the class of 1946. She attended Concordia College and Dickinson State. Fern went on to earn her teaching certificate and taught at Strehlow School. On August 7, 1949, Fern married Art Belland. They lived in New England and raised their five children; Terrence, Timothy, Dwight, Lu Anna and Linda. Fern and Art owned the Jack and Jill Grocery store with Fred Schatz for a few years in the late 1960’s. They were very involved with the Boy Scout Program and they were also advisors for Luther League. The family enjoyed their annual campout at Mossett Bay. She enjoyed her flower gardens, baking, and crocheting. Most of all, Fern loved her time with her children and grandchildren. She moved to Hawks Point in Dickinson in 2010 and became a resident of Missouri Slope Care Center in 2014. We loved her and will miss her deeply. Our fond memories of her kindness will live on in all who knew her. Fern is survived by her sons; Terrence (Donna) of Bellevue, WA, Timothy (Gail) of Dickinson, ND, Dwight (Nancy) of New England; daughter, Linda Reller of Bismarck, ND; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ellert and Anna; husband, Art; brothers, Jay, Elmer, Melvin, Merle; sisters, Hazel, Annabelle, Stella, Bernice, Clara; daughter, Lu Anna Reller and granddaughter, Stacey Meduna.
