Fern Alice Myhre passed away Tuesday, August15, 2006 at the Fallon County Medical Complex in Baker, MT. Fern Alice Myhre was born on January 25, 1931, the eldest child of Ferdy and Edith (Lough) Carlson at Woodbury Township, Slope County, ND. When Fern was a year old, the family moved to the Baker, MT area. She graduated from Baker High School in 148. In October of that same year, she married Rodger Myhre, the man she loved from the first time she met him. They lived for a short time southwest of Willard, MT until moving to the family ranch on the 101 Road. There they made their home. Roger passed away in 1997. Fern moved into Baker in 2003, but was considering moving back out to the country because she ?couldn?t see anything?! At the time of her death, Fern was a resident of the Fallon Medical Complex Nursing Home. Fern and Rodger had four girls. Fern?s main occupation was that of a ranch wife and mother. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading and her flowers to the point she would snitch a slip from other peoples plants. If mom wanted a slip, no plant was scared! Fern had even planted a small garden after learning that her cancer was back, was able to enjoy a tomato from that garden. Her family was Fern?s priority, whether it be sewing for her girls or flying kites with her grandchildren. Fern was a member of the American Lutheran Church and in later years spent many hours making quilts for Lutheran World Relief. There was not a piece of polyester double knit that Mom didn?t like. Fern?s faith in God was unfaltering. She would often call upon that Faith in lean times as well as good. Even towards the end, Mom said God has kept His end of the Bargain. Fern is survived by her four daughters, Regena (Dale) Hande, Rhame, ND, Rhonda Myhre, Ekalaka, MT, Garnee Erickson-(Roy) Olsen, Baker, MT and Jennifer (Kevin) Dukart, Baker, MT; a brother, James (Pat) Carlson, Billings, MT; a sister, Carol (Charles) Plum, Billings, MT; two son-in-laws, Jim Kono, Baker, MT and George Sieler, Sacramento, CA; ten grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ferdy, and Edith, her husband, Rodger, her sisters Shirley Sieler and Ferdella Kono and her son-in-law Arnie Erickson.
