Funeral Mass for Florence Schmitz, 95 of Wibaux, Montana formerly of Beach, ND will be 10:00 a. m. Tuesday, August 22, 2006 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Beach, ND with Father David Richter celebrating. Special music will be provided by the Men?s Choir of St. John?s and St. Mary?s. Burial will follow in the family lot in St. Mary?s Catholic Cemetery at Golva, ND with Allen Swanson, Julie Havig, Jon Swanson, Kristie Asay, Artie Gunderson, Karen Schmitz, Britton Nunberg, Robert Schmitz Jr. , Ryan Nunberg, Lynn Puckett, Nathan Nunberg, Tahnee Meckoll, Jacob Havig and Kylie Mahoney as pallbearers. Visitation will be Monday, August 21, 2006 from 4:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. at St. John?s in Beach, with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p. m. at the Church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Stevenson Funeral Home of Baker, MT. Florence passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2006 at the Wibaux County Nursing in Wibaux, MT. Florence Elizabeth Schmitz was born on November 4, 1910 to Murdoch and Euphemia Cameron at Ollie, MT. Florence grew up and attended schools at Ollie and Golva, ND. At the age of 13, she got her first job working for the Ted and Mary Dickinson family at the Dickinson Store in Beach, ND. It was while she attended school in Golva, she met the love of her life, Arthur Matthew Schmitz. They were married at St. John?s the Baptist Catholic Church in Beach on June 1, 1938. After their marriage, Art and Florence lived in the Golva area and later moved to Wibaux County, where they continued to live, and raised their family at Yates, MT. After Florence and Art retired, they moved into Wibaux until Art passed away in January 1970. In the early 70?s, Florence moved to Beach where she made her home until she entered the Wibaux County Nursing Home in 2002. Cooking was her favorite pastime. While she lived in Wibaux, Florence managed the Shamrock Caf?, and later she helped her daughter, Joyce at the 10th Hole Supper Club in Beach. Florenc’s life was filled with the pleasures of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her retirement, she enjoyed having coffee with her friends. In the later years, Florence loved collecting antique dishes. Florence is survived by two daughters, Kathleen ?Katy? (Jerry) Gunderson, Billings, MT and Ann (Larry) Swanson, Nampa, ID; a son, Robert Schmitz, Beach, ND; a son-in-law, Gary Nunberg, Beach, ND; a sister-in-law, Barbara Cameron, Beach, ND; 13 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Murdoch and Euphemia, her husband, Art, her daughter, Joyce Nunberg, her brother Hector Cameron, her two sisters, Annabelle Davidson and Kathleen Thorsgard.
