Floyd Christianson

Floyd Tollef Christianson, 84, passed away peacefully at his home on December 15, 2012 with his family at his side.


Services will be held at Almont United Lutheran Church, Almont, ND on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at 2:00 pm with the Rev. VanVechten Crane officiating. Burial will be in the Almont Cemetery.


Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on December 18, 2012 at Almont United Lutheran Church. Visitation will continue at the church two hours prior to the service.


Floyd was born on April 23, 1928 to Tollef and Tobina (Olson) Christianson. Floyd’s mother passed away before he was a year old and Floyd was raised by his aunt, Martha Smordahl. He was raised and educated in the Almont area and attended auto mechanics school in Fargo, ND. Upon his return to Almont, he worked for his father on the railroad for a short time. He married Agnes Doll on December 31, 1947 in New Salem, ND. Together they spent most of their lives farming and ranching west of Almont on the family farm. In 2005, they retired but continued to live on the family farm until July of 2012 when Floyd’s health deteriorated and they moved to Edgewood Vista in Bismarck. Floyd and Agnes were married for 65 wonderful years and enjoyed living in the Almont community surrounded by family and good friends. Floyd always took time to visit and tell a joke or two. He took great pride in farming and raising cattle. Floyd served on the Almont School Board for many years.


Floyd is survived by his wife Agnes, 3 children, Tim (JoAnn) Mandan, Debora, Mandan, and Kevin (Mary Jayne), Madison, WI, 5 grandchildren, Todd (Andrea) Christianson, Payson, AZ, Jill (Jesse) Gange, Bismarck, Preston Christianson, Mandan, Jaren (Katie) Christianson and Kyle Christianson Madison, WI, and 6 great grandchildren.


Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, 6 sisters and 1 brother, Ella Bradly, Gertrude Thiel, Mable Olin, Selma Ostafin, Conrad Christianson, Esther Klusmann, and Clara Wilkins, and an infant sister and infant brother.
