Funeral Services for Floyd James Pierce, 85 of Ekalaka will be 11:00 a. m. Thursday, May 29, 2008 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Ekalaka, MT with pastor Wallace Fox officiating. Burial will follow at Beaver Lodge Cemetery in Ekalaka. Visitation will be from 3:00 p. m. to 7:00 p. m. Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Baker. Visitation will continue from 8:00 a. m. to 10:30 a. m. Thursday, May 29, 2008. Floyd passed away Sunday, May 25, 2008 in Luster, MT Floyd James Pierce was born December 6th 1922 in Ekalaka to Blanche (Newton) and Calvin Pierce. He grew up on the family Ranch south of Ekalaka and attended grade school in Ekalaka In December 1935 when the temperature was way below zero, Floyd went to the Frank Bandy coal mine with Ernest Brewer and Guy Jennings. He froze his feet and lost the first joint on his big toe of the right foot. It took a very long time for his toes to heal. He enlisted in the United State Army and served during World War II. After being honorably discharged he returned home to Carter County. Floyd married Anna June Nassett Carver on October 20, 1950 and they made their home on the family ranch southwest of Ekalaka. Floyd built a new modern home in 1967 on the place formerly owned by Conrod Meyers. In 1971 Floyd and June bought and moved into the Skeet Jennings place. He loved playing cards, being with his family, going to country dances, and ranching. He is survived by his wife June, and his children Lenny (Barb) Carver of Sidney; Shirley ?Dean? (Kenny) Scheetz of Sidney; Bonnie ?Elmore? (Larry) Sharbono of Sidney; Dan (Denise) Pierce of Ekalaka; Laurie (Roger) Pankratz of Baker; 18 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, one sister Laura (Lawrence) Webster of Miles City; one brother in law Bill Johnstone; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter Betty Jean (Gary) Cato, one granddaughter Brandi Jo Pankratz, two son-in laws Robert Dean and Bill Elmore, six sisters , Alice (Ernest) Brewer, Flora (Paul) Hobbs, Harriet (Bud) Plummer, Marge (Lawrence) Anderson, Pete (Bill) Johnstone, and two brothers RD and Deb Pierce.
