Frances Bechhold

Frances Bechhold, 93 of Glen Ullin, died Monday, October 27, 2008 at her home in Glen Ullin, with her beloved daughter, and full time care giver, Jean, by her side. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a. m. Central Time on Thursday, October 30, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glen Ullin with Fr. Lawrence Wagner, OSB, as Celebrant. Visitation will be held on Wednesday after 4:00 PM at the church with vigil services at 7:00 PM. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Glen Ullin. Frances was born in Glen Ullin, March 12, 1915, the daughter of Philipp and Christina (Feser) Geck. She was raised on the farm and in Glen Ullin and attended Sacred Heart Catholic School. She married John Bechhold, March 27, 1936 in Bismarck. Following marriage they lived in Glen Ullin while John worked for the WPA. In 1941 they bought and moved to a farm 15 miles north of Glen Ullin. In 1948 they bought the Bill and Kate Geck farm northeast of Glen Ullin and moved there. Frances was a hardworking farm wife helping John shocking, milking cows, hauling bales, and whatever else she could help with. They moved into Glen Ullin in 1968, and farmed from town until John?s death on January 14, 1972. Frances also worked about the home; she was an excellent cook, baker, canner, housekeeper, and a constant care giver to her family. Everyone who stopped by was treated to a home cooked meal, or at the least dessert and cookies. She enjoyed spending time with her family, taking pictures, playing cards, embroidering and crocheting, gardening, working on family history, watching TV, traveling, volunteering at church and eating out. She is survived by two sons: Gerald (Lucille) Bechhold, Bismarck, ND; Jimmie Bechhold, Glen Ullin, ND; her daughter Jean Bechhold, Glen Ullin; and two grandchildren: Robert Bechhold and Christine Bechhold. She was preceded in death by her husband, seven brothers, Henry, Philip, Gregor, William, a set of infant twins, and a stillborn brother, six sisters, Katherine, Emma, Mary, Gertrude, Margaret, and Minnie.
