Frances Simmons

Funeral Mass for Frances LaBreck Simmons, 85, of Sheridan, WY, formerly of Ekalaka, MT will be 11:00 a. m. Monday at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Ekalaka with Father Thomas Tobin officiating. Burial will follow at Beaver Lodge Cemetery in Ekalaka. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a. m. to 11:00 a. m. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Ekalaka. . Frances ?Toots? Kittelmann was born in Box Butte County, Nebraska on June 21, 1922 at the family home of Mr. and Mrs. Moritz R. Kittelmann. Her mother passed away when Toots was very young. In 1929 she came with her father and new mother, Susie, to Montana. Toots attended country and Ekalaka Grade School, graduating from Carter County High School. On November 9, 1940 Frances married Pat LaBreck in Baker, MT. They lived in Spanaway, WA for a time during World War II and then returned to Ekalaka to live and raise their family. Toots worked for many years in the liquor store in Ekalaka for the state of Montana. She also was employed in the Clerk of Court office at the Carter County Court House. Frances was very proud of her heritage in Carter County. After Pat passed away Frances remarried in 1984 to Leonard Simmons in Lead, SD. The couple made their home in Nebraska and then moved to Sheridan, WY. It was here in Sheridan where Frances lived the remainder of her life to be near her son Tracy and his family which meant so much to Toots. Frances was an active member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Ekalaka as well as Holy Name Parish in Sheridan, WY. She was a proud member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Ekalaka. Toots was an avid stamp and bottle collector made evident by her wonderful collections. She also enjoyed playing the card game ?500? with her friends and attending dances. She is survived by her son Tracy (Valerie) LaBreck of Sheridan, WY; two grandchildren Kimberly and Patrick LaBreck; Leonard Simmons? daughter Vicki Atwell of Omaha, NE; a brother George Kittlemann and families of Ekalaka, MT; a sister, Alice Carlisle and families; There are many nieces and nephew who mourn her loss. Frances was preceded in death by her husbands Pat LaBreck and Leonard Simmons; her parents Moritz, Susie and Louisa Kittelmann; two brothers Charles Kittelmann and James Bazil; a sister Clara Farwall, and an infant son, Kelly Pat. Frances passed away Friday, July 13, 2007 at Westview Healthcare Center in Sheridan, WY after several years as a resident there.
