Frances passed away, Saturday, March 27, 2004 at St. Benedict?s Health Center in Dickinson. She was born September 18, 1905 at Center, ND, the daughter of Jacob and Rosa (Hopfauf) Hatzenbuhler. She attended schools in Hazen and Mandan. Frances was married to Ray Thomas on November 27, 1928 at the Assumption Abbey at Richardton. They spent their 66 years of married life in Dickinson where they raised 5 children. According to everyone who knew her, ?Mom? Thomas lived a very full and active life. Her highest priorities were family, prayers and being absolutely certain everyone who crossed her threshold had enough to eat. She was always the ?Magic Chef? preparing healthy, hearty meals for her family and all who might drop in. When she was sure her family was clean and well fed, she would enjoy a spirited Bridge Game, winning ?high point? any number of times, even in her later years, with players a generation or two younger. If there wasn?t a bridge game on her schedule, she and Ray would find a friendly game of pinochle or spend a Saturday evening, dancing with friends. Frances was a long-standing, loyal and faithful member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She specifically requested that she be wearing her Catholic Daughter Pin on this day. Frances is survived by her four sons: Ray and Kathleen ( McGee) Thomas, Livermore CA; Thomas and Jean ( Buzzy Fenstermacher) Thomas, Rocklin, CA; Robert and Lola (Defoe) Thomas, White Bear Lake, MN. and Richard Thomas, Dickinson, ND. She leaves 18 grandchildren and 21 great grand children. Frances was preceded in death by her daughter, Marie, Mrs. James Kubisiak, in 1975, husband Ray, in 1995, parents and 14 brothers and sisters. Frances will be greatly missed by all her family and friends but we have no doubt that Frances and Ray are once again united. The family has established a memorial at St. Benedict?s Health Center
