Funeral Services for Franklin Emch, 82, of Belfield will be 2:00 p. m. , Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Belfield Lutheran Church with Pastor Roger Dieterle celebrating. Burial will take place in Leith, ND later in the spring. Visitation for Frank will be from 1:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. , Friday, February 11, 2011 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson with a prayer service being held at 7:00 p. m. Frank passed away Monday, February 7, 2011 at his home south of Belfield with Margaret and several of his children by his side. Franklin Nicholas Emch was born on March 9, 1928 in Leith, ND, the son of Franklin Perry and Regina Alzner (Wachsman) Emch. He grew up and attended school in Leith. Frank loved playing basketball as a young man. In his young adult life, Frank worked in Pick City, ND helping to build the Garrison Dam as well as grain elevators in Morristown, SD and Baker, MT. In the early 1960?s, Frank moved to McIntosh, SD to work in the bank. From 1966 to 1969, he worked at the Farmers and Merchants Bank in Beach. Frank then moved to Dickinson where he worked at American State Bank until 1972 when he moved to the ranch south of Belfield. He resided at the ranch until the time of his death. Frank loved playing pinochle, watching basketball, and being around all animals, especially his horses. Family meant a lot to him and he dearly loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Frank was a member of the 7th Calvary for 19 years and the Knights of Columbus. He served on Belfield School Board, St. Josephs Hospital Board and Stark County Zoning Board for many years. Frank is survived by his ex-wife, Margaret Bonogofsky Emch of Dickinson and his seven children: Katherine (Gary) Doering of Windsor, CO, Perry (Nancy) Emch of Belfield, ND, Michael (Sherri) Emch of Bowman, ND, Susan (Gary) Thielen of Dickinson, Marriann ?Mitzi? (Wally) Mross of Belfield, ND, Amy (Ryan) Morris of Colorado Springs, CO and Connie (Don) Fulton of Belfield, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents, Perry and Regina Emch; one brother Jim Emch; one sister Mary Ann Emch; sister-in-law LaVonne Emch; one niece Pamela Emch and numerous step-brothers and step-sisters.
