Christian Mass for Frank J. Herauf, 90, of Dickinson, will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2003 at the Queen Of Peace Catholic Church with Father David Morman officiating. Burial with Military Honors by the Dickinson Veterans Drill Teem will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Dickinson. Visitation will be on Monday, December 22, 2003 from 9:00 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. followed by a Rosary & Vigil Service at 7:00 p. m. in the Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel. Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 9:00 a. m. until service time at the Queen of Peace Catholic ChurchFrank passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2003, at St. Joseph?s Hospital and Health Center. Frank J. Herauf, a son of Jacob and Theresa (Heck) Herauf, was born on November 1, All Saint?s Day, 1913, in Dickinson. He graduated from St. Joseph?s School, Dickinson, and from Mechanical Trade School in California. Frank served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. He was called home from this assignment to become the guardian for his four nieces and nephews whose parents had been killed in a car accident. Frank married Angeline Wolf on May 17, 1941 in Dickinson. They moved to a farm south of Belfield where they farmed until 1972, when they retired and moved to Dickinson. Frank served on the former Belfield School District No. 10 for 15 years as Board Member, Treasurer, and Clerk. He was a member of St. Bernard?s Parish Board when the rectory was built and served on the St. Bernard?s school board for 10 years. He was also Commander of the former St. Bernard?s Post Catholic War Veterans. Always a farmer at heart, Frank continued to work the soil in his retirement, gardening and sharing his produce with his family. Frank lived independently, celebrating his 90th birthday in the home he had shared with his wife. Frank led a life of faith and devotion, sheltering his family with prayers. Quiet and uncomplaining, he awaited the day when he could rejoin his Angeline in eternity. Survivors include one son, Blaine (Barb) Herauf, Dickinson and their four children, Brent, Brad, Becky and Brandi Herauf; two daughters, Cheryl (Darryl) Dobie, Broomfield, CO, their two daughters, Kendra and Kia Dobie; Patricia (George) Ehlis, Dickinson and their eight children, Beth (Ernie) Strube, Dave (Karla) Ehlis, Sharon (Chris) Kubick, Lisa (Gordon) Kessel, John (Kris) Ehlis, Frank Ehlis, Anne (Marc) Wolf, and Andrea (Don) Chang, 18 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Pauline Leidholt, Miles City, MT. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Angeline, his parents, five brothers; John, Joseph, Leonard, Anthony and Edward and four sisters, Elizabeth Herauf, Monica Selbman, Anna McGee and Elizabeth Hardwick
