A funeral Mass for Frank Urlacher, 87, of Dickinson will be 10:00 a. m. , Monday, April 25, 2016 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Father Shannon Lucht celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Visitation for Frank will be from 3:00 p. m. to 7:00 p. m. , Sunday, April 24, 2016 at Stevenson Funeral Home with a rosary & vigil service being held at 6:00 p. m. Visitation will continue on Monday, one hour prior to the funeral Mass at the church. Frank passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at CHI St. Alexius Health Dickinson surrounded by his family. Frank Urlacher, son of Wilhelm and Anna Mary (Walter) Urlacher was born on June 24, 1928. He was the fourth child of nine children born to this union of five brothers and three sisters. In 1903, the family homesteaded southeast of New England in Kennedy Township and later Frank’s parents settled in Rifle Township. Frank grew up on a farm northeast of New England and attended rural grade school. After graduating from the eighth grade, he stayed home to help his parents in their farming and ranching business. On November 28, 1950, Frank married Emilia Hutmacher at St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Fayette, North Dakota. They purchased the family farm in 1951 and made their home there until retiring in 1992. Following in his father’s footsteps, Frank became actively involved in local government politics. He served as Republican Precinct Committeeman, acted as a judge or clerk of various elections and served as Clark Township Treasurer. Frank became a school board member and served as president for several years until 1970 when the area was annexed into the New England School District. He also drove bus for New England schools for several years. Frank became a charter member of the St. Elizabeth’s Knights of Columbus Council #5477 and served in various positions on the board. Honors he received through the Knights of Columbus include: Knight of the month in 1969, 1972, 1976 and 1978; Family of the Month 1978, 1979 and 1980; and Family of the Year in 1980. His parents and family were selected as Family of the Year by Council #5477 in 1968. He is a member of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, #1640 Assembly of Mott. Frank served on the Knights of Columbus Board in Lefor while the existing bar, lounge, kitchen and dance floor were built. Frank had hauled “meals on wheels” for six years. Over the years, Frank served on countless fundraising projects and raffles for various organizations. Frank was a trustee for the St. Elizabeth’s Parish as well as on the Parish Board. He led the Rosary before Mass each Sunday. He also served as a God’s Share Appeal collector and as chairman for the annual Church Fair and as a Eucharistic Minister. Frank was also a member of the St. Pius Verein of Schefield where both he and Emilia served on its entertainment committee, Vice-President, President and he continued to hold the position of Recorder as well as leading Rosary at area funeral homes for St. Pius Verein’s deceased members. Additional clubs that Frank was involved in were: Eagles Club (Golden Eagle), German Hungarian Club, St. Anthony Club and a member of the Farmers Union in Dickinson. As a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Dickinson, Frank continued to lead Rosary before Mass. To date, Frank has made over 7,000 rosaries for the missions, and also helped make noodles for Mardi Gras for over 25 years. Frank and Emilia raised nine children; Sandra, Frederick, Robert, Kathleen, Alvin, Rose Ann, Eugene, Yvonne and Ronald. Together they raised diversified crops on the farm as well as operated their dairy operation. In November of 2015, they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Frank was a hard-working man and enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, reading trade journals and newspapers, shooting pool or playing cards such as whist and pinochle. Being around people, sharing time and interests, following his faith, and God were all very important to him. Frank is survived by his wife, Emilia; his nine children, Sandra (Darrel) Heimbuck of Bismarck, Fred (Rochelle) Urlacher of Bismarck, Robert (Char) Urlacher of Lincoln, ND; Kathleen (Doug) Schmidt of Dickinson, Alvin (Vicki) Urlacher of New England, Rose Ann (George) Lantz of Dickinson, Eugene Urlacher of New England, Yvonne (Ken) Stockert of Dickinson and Ronald Urlacher of Dickinson; three sisters, Sally Dolechek of Dickinson, Leona (Andy) Roller of Laurel, MT, Gena (Gene) Peterman of Fargo; two brothers, Florian Urlacher, Dickinson and Edwin (Arlene) Urlacher of Milwaukee, WI; 18 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one sister-in-law Eleanor Urlacher of Billings, MT. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilhelm & Anna Mary; three brothers, Leo, Valentine and Peter Urlacher; sisters-in-law, Verena Urlacher, Kathryn Urlacher, Judith Urlacher, and Dorothy Urlacher; brother-in-l aw, Vince Dolechek and three grandson’s Lee Urlacher, Joshua Stockert and Derek Heimbuck.
