Liturgy of the Word service for Fred Koch, 81, of Baker MT, formerly of Dickinson will be 11:00 a. m. Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson with Deacon Bob Stockert officiating. Burial will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Visitation for Fred will be from 3-6 p. m. Monday, July 21, 2014 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Baker, MT. Visitation will Continue on Tuesday from 9:00 a. m. to 11:00 a. m. at Stevenson Funeral Home Dickinson. Fred passed away Friday, July 18, 2014 at Superior Care in Baker, MT. Fred Koch was born June 9, 1933 in Stark County, ND, the son of Sebastian and Anna Mary (Obritschkewitsch) Koch. He attended country school in Slope County through the eighth grade. Fred was enlisted in the US Army in 1958 and was honorably discharged from Fort Bliss, TX in 1958. He went to work on a farm near Amidon and later hauled mail for Dickinson for two years. He then became a mechanic for fifteen years for John Deere Company. Fred also worked on lawn mowers and small engines for fifteen years. He was member of Baker Muesum and a member and board member of the American Legion. Fred enjoyed working on puzzles, reading and watching TV. He was also known as the “Candy Man”. Fred is survived by his sister, Ardella (Vince) Veverka of South Heart; nieces and nephews, Raymond (Susie) Veverka, Renee (Don) Grey, Josalyn Privratsky and Darren (Shannon) Privratsky; great-nieces and nephews, Danielle (Alex) Schiff, Katie, Mark, Emma, Grace, Ethan, Tanaya, Jody, Adam and Devin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sebastian and Mary Koch; sister, Eileen and Joe Privratsky; and infant brother, Machel.
