Fred MeyerFuneral Mass for Fred Meyer, 90 of Dickinson will be 11:00 a. m. Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at St. Joseph?s Catholic Church, Dickinson with Father Keith Streifel, celebrating. Military Rites will be by the Dickinson Honor Guard. Burial will follow at St. Joseph?s Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 30, 2010 from 11:00 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. with a Rosary and Vigil Service at 7:00 p. m. at Stevenson Funeral Home. Fred passed away Saturday, November 27, 2010 at St. Benedict?s Health Center, Dickinson. He was born May 8, 1920 at Dickinson, the son of John J. and Margaret (Emineth) Meyer. Fred grew up and attended St. Joseph?s Grade School. He later enlisted in the US Army in 1941 and served in China, Burma and the India Theatre. He was honorabley discharged in 1946 at Ft. Lewis, WA. Fred returned to Dickinson to the family dairy farm. He was married to Bernice Barth on January 23, 1956 at St. Joseph?s Catholic Church in Dickinson. They lived in Dickinson while working on the dairy farm and raising their four children: Larry, Steve, Nancy and Michael. In 1969 Fred began maintenance and custodian work at Dickinson State University where he remained for the next 20 years. After he retired, they continued to make Dickinson their home. Fred enjoyed woodworking, gardening and blowing snow. He also enjoyed cards, especially pinochle and whist. Fred was a member of the Eagles, Sunset Senior Center and St. Joseph?s Catholic Church. He was a great handyman and could make anything work again. Survivors include his wife, Bernice of Dickinson; two sons, Larry V. (Jane) Meyer, Fairfield, MT and Steve L. (Sandy), Watford City, ND; a daughter, Nancy (Dale) Bishop, Rapid City, SD; one brother, Richard Meyer, Dickinson; four sisters: Sister Johnita, St. Joseph, MN, Dolores Schmidt, Dickinson, Eleanore (Dick) Frederick, Jeffersonton, VA and Rose (Dominic) St. Peter, Bismarck, ND; a brother-in-law, Norbert (Leona) Amann, Richardton, ND; two sister-in-laws, Joan Meyer, Gladstone and Betty Meyer, Dickinson; five grandchildren: Brent (Audrey) Meyer, Seattle, WA, Jeff Meyer, Houston, TX, Michelle Meyer, Fairfield, MT and Matthew Meyer Fairfield, MT; and a step-grandchild, Steven Bishop, Phoenix, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Michael Meyer, two brothers, Ray Meyer and Paul Meyer; and three sisters: Barbara Boehm, Arleen Amann and Lucille Heenan.
