Frieda passed away July 30, 2019 at Fallon Medical Complex.
Frieda was born at home on January 3, 1932, the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Naasz) Lang. She grew up and attended Fertile Prairie School. Frieda married Herbert Straub on June 29, 1952 in Plevna, MT. The couple farmed and ranched south of Baker. They were blessed with three children, Brenda, Paula and Terry. Frieda was a devoted farmwife and mother and she did housekeeping and painting. She enjoyed baking cookies for friends, neighbors, and those who helped her. She especially enjoyed baking cookies for the grandkids at Christmas time and watching them exchange them because Grandma couldn’t remember who liked which kind. Frieda also liked to spend her time crocheting, reading and visiting with friends. Spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was especially important to Frieda.
Frieda volunteered her time and talent at her church as a Sunday school teacher, deaconess and a member of the church choir and special music. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Baker.
Frieda is survived by her children, Brenda (Dale) Schweigert, Paula (Ron) Haar and Terry (Anna) Straub all of Baker; seven grandchildren, Jon (Nikki Werkele) Schweigert, Justin (Jen) Haar, Jana Schweigert, Katie Straub, Jason (Carrie) Haar, Lane (Kayleigh) Straub, and Aaron (Britney) Straub; great-grandchildren, Britanie, Chloe, Liam, Bristol, Easton, Mazie, Bree, Haddie, Kelton, Briar, and Leo; brother Manuel Lang of Phoenix, AZ; sister, Lydia Bales of Yakima, WA.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Herb; parents, John and Elizabeth Lang; brothers, Henry, Christ, Ernest, and Norman Lang; sisters, Alvina Croissant and Martha Buekle; and granddaughter, Tori Schweigert.
“My greatest joy would be to have all the family meet at the feet of our beloved Saviour who gave his life and his unconditional love for us. Goodbye my loved ones ‘till we meet again.” – Frieda
