Gary died on Sunday, December 15, 2002, at Oakes Good Samaritan, Oakes, ND. Gary was born February 18, 1945 in Turtle Lake, ND. He was the son of Walter C. and Elsie (Boyko) Haugen. While growing up Gary attended the Butte Country School and the Fullerton Public School thru 10th grade. He attended the Sheyenne River Academy in Harvey, ND were he graduated in 1963. On June 19, 1966 he was married to Jane Bauer in Ellendale, ND. He worked for Carlson Construction for several years. In the late 60?s he began working at the St. Benedicts Nursing Home where, he became the maintenance supervisor. On November 19, 1980, he was married to Ardis Mellmer in Las Vegas, NV. Due to failing health Gary retired in 1993. Gary was a member of the Dickinson Retread Motorcycle Club, Harley Owners Group of North Dakota, and an active member of The Seventh Day Adventist. Church. He enjoyed taking many trips throughout the lower 48 states, Canada, and Alaska, which accounts for thousands of photos and memories. Gary enjoyed his woodworking shop and sharing his creations with everyone. He especially loved and enjoyed his family, grandchildren and biker friends. Gary will be fondly remembered as ?The Hogster. ? He is survived by his mother Elsie (Stanley) Krupsky of Fullerton, ND; one daughter, Leota Rick of Dickinson, ND; one brother; Bruce Nelson of Alexandra, MN; six sisters; Deanna Haugen of Fullerton, ND, Connie Teske of Fullerton, ND, Bonnie Eaton of Fullerton, ND, Nancy Krupsky of Mankota, MN, Lyn Cavalieri of Las Vegas, NV, and Kim Haugen of Rend, NV and two grandchildren, TaShael and Tanis. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Haugen, his son, Gary C. Haugen Jr. , one sister, Caroline Russell and his step mother, Lil Haugen;.
