Gayle passed away unexpectedly at her home north of South Heart on Monday February 8, 2016. Gayle was born October 21, 1947 to Willard “Bud” and Agnes (Burian) Fisher in Dickinson, North Dakota. She was the fourth of five kids growing up on the family ranch. She loved growing up in the Breaks. Her fondest memories were here spending time playing with all the animals and getting her Uncle Ralph to help her sneak cookies. Gayle attended grade school and junior high at the one room school house just north of the family ranch. She graduated from Killdeer High School in 1965. Gayle married Rockford Hushka on Nov 6, 1965 at St. Wenceslaus Church in Dickinson. To this union, three children were born, Rock “Stoney”, Travis and Tanya. Gayle was an amazing seamstress; working for over forty years in the trade. She worked for The Fad Clothing, The Bridal House and Superior Laundry. She spent the last ten years working at Baker Boy and retired in 2013. Her most favorite things in the world were her family and her home. She was super proud of the house Rocky and Gayle built together. Gayle spent many precious hours gardening and shopping for new flowers. Gayle loved every moment she could spend with her grandkids, Jack and Abigayle. There was nothing more important to her than her family and her friends. She was always anxious to plan her next road trip with her sisters and daughter to check out small town stores in Montana and North Dakota. In the last few months of her life Gayle battled lung cancer and just recently found out that she, in her own words, “kicked cancer’s crappy butt”. Gayle is survived by her husband, Rocky, sons Rock (Jon), Tacoma WA, Travis (Donnell), Bismarck ND; and daughter Tanya (Phil) Martin, Dickinson ND; her grandkids, who were the apple of her eye, Jack Martin and Abigayle Hushka; her mother Agnes Fisher (Dickinson); brothers, Barry (Georgia) Fisher and Jeff (Kelly) Fisher; sisters, Mary Ann (Don) Neuens, Glen Ullin and Faye Wimbish, Broken Arrow, OK; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Willard “Bud”; favorite uncle, Ralph; mother and father-in-law, Henry and Theresa Hushka; and brother-in-law, Ed Wimbish. Gayle had a favorite quote she shared with her grandkids nearly every time she saw them and would follow it up with a hug and a kiss. “I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck. That’s how much I love you. ”
