Gene Buehner

A funeral service for Gene Buehner, 81, of Dickinson, will be 10:00 a. m. , Friday, June 17, 2016 in the Stevenson Funeral Home Chapel in Dickinson with Pastor Tim Voth officiating. Burial will take place in the Dunn Center Cemetery. Visitation for Gene will be 1:00 p. m. – 5:00 p. m. , Thursday, June 16th at the funeral home. Gene passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at CHI St. Alexius Health Dickinson. Gene Richard was born on December 27, 1934 at the McGown home in Killdeer, the son of Richard and Gladys (Knudsvig) Buehner. He attended school at Connolly No. 2 North of Dunn Center where he grew up. Gene was a farmer/rancher his entire life. On November 11, 1955 Gene married Marlene Unterseher at the Zion Lutheran Church in Beulah, ND. To this union, Gerald Kevin was born. In 1962, the couple purchased the Herbert Hoffner farm nine miles north of Dunn Center, where Gene lived until his retirement. While living on the farm, Gene and Marlene took in Darrel Gilge, who became very close and Gene thought the world of him. Darrel spent many summers spending time with Gene. Gene later moved to his final home in Dickinson. Gene was an avid cowboy and loved ranching and being outdoors. He was noted as a good horseman. He always enjoyed attending livestock sales and visiting with the ranchers. Gene especially loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gene is survived by son, Kevin (Cheryl Lynn Tabor) Buehner of Dunn Center; three grandchildren, Cody (Jessica) Buehner, Austin (Emiley) Buehner, and Amos Buehner (special friend, Nicole) all of Dunn Center; four great-grandchildren, Eliza, Woodrow, Beau, and Grace. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Gladys; and brother, James.
