Funeral Service for George Benner, 81, of Baker will be held 10:00 a. m. Saturday, July 29, 2006 at the American Lutheran Church with Pastors Bruce and Reba Kolasch officiating. Burial will be at a later date. A Masonic Service will be held 7:00 p. m. Friday, July 28, 2006, at the Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker. Visitation will be Friday, from 9:00 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. at the Chapel. George passed away Monday, July 24, 2006 at the Fallon Medical Complex in Baker. He was born January 6, 1925, the son of Henry and Anna (Bolton) Benner at Sidney, MT. George attended Westmore Elementary School until 1938. At the age of 16, he began working for the Milwaukee railroad. George enlisted in the US Army in September of 1944 and served until January of 1945. After returning from the service, George worked on area ranches as well as his own place. In 1950 he began working for MDU and area ranches. On December 4, 1954 George was married to Doris Lutts at Baker, MT. They lived on the family farm until 1967 when they moved to Baker. George began a twenty-year career with the Fallon County Road Department where he operated a road grader for many years. George semi-retired in 1986 and yet found himself busier than before. He worked with Lund?s B Bar Angus ranch as well as several other jobs. He was a member of the Sandstone Lodge #84 AF & AM for over 52 years and served in many offices. Survivors include his wife, Doris, Baker, MT; two sons, Cecil (Cheryl) Benner, Buffalo, WY and William (Penny) Benner, Plevna, MT; two daughters, Gertrude (Bob) Baldwin, Plevna, MT and Emma (Frank) Minnick, Livingston, MT; five brothers: Arnold Duneman, Baker, MT, Kenneth (Marian) Duneman, Ballentine, MT, Ralph (Gloria) Duneman, Baker, MT, Ben (Lanelle) Benner, Anaconda, MT and Raymond Benner, Billings, MT; five sisters: Toots Shear, Billings, MT, Evelyn (Sam) Myer, Baker, MT, Jeannine Wagner, Billings, MT, Donna Besel, Gillette, WY and Hattie (Gerry) Stalburg, Kalispell, MT; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Stanley Benner, Carl Benner, Don Benner and Rodney Benner and a grandchild, Luke Benner.
