Mass of Christian Burial for George R. Doll, 89, of New Salem will be 10:00 a. m. CDT, Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at St. Pius V Catholic Church in New Salem, ND with Father Amalraj Roche celebrating. Burial will follow at the St. Pius Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. CDT, Monday, May 24, 2010 and continuing one hour prior to services on Tuesday at St. Pius V Church in New Salem with a Rosary and Vigil Service at 7:00 p. m. George passed away Saturday, May 22, 2010 at the Elm Crest Manor in New Salem. George R. Doll was born June 24, 1920 to John and Margaret (Dinius) Doll on a farm in Oliver County, ND near Yucca. He grew up on the farm and attended Otter Creek Country School. George continued to work on the farm until he enlisted in the United States Army in October, 1941. While serving in the African and European Theatre, George was injured on a mission in Africa. George earned the prestigious Purple Heart during this time. One of his fondest memories of the Army was being the Jeep driver for General George Patton. After being honourably discharged, George returned to New Salem where he married Eugenia Hoffman on October 15, 1945 at St. Pius Church in New Salem. Following their marriage they farmed North of New Salem and raised their family. In 1982, they retired and bought a small ranch in Victor, MT. In 1986, they returned to New Salem where he has resided since. George enjoyed fishing, playing cards and traveling. He loved to visit with family and friends. He always looked forward to his military reunions. The Military was very important to George and he was very proud of all his family members that were involved. George was a member of the New Salem American Legion, VFW, 4th Degree Knights and St. Vincent?s Verien. Grateful for having shared his life are his nine children, Sherril (Marilyn) Doll, Mandan, Lenis Volk, Bismarck, Georgene (Tony) Bender, Agar, SD, Tim (Dianne) Doll, New Salem, Jackie (Clyde) Staiger, Hebron, Randy (Tami) Doll, New Salem, Callen Doll, New Salem, Robyn (Don) Staiger, Hebron, and Cordell Doll, New Salem, son-in-law, Raynard Mosbrucker, 18 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, brother, Joe (Helen) Doll, New Salem, sisters, Millie Hauck, Richardton, Maggie Miller, Washington, Sally (Larry) Forster, New Salem and Bertha (Hank) Friedt, Arizona and sisters-in-law, Ann Doll, Mandan and Lorraine Doll, New Salem. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Eugenia, daughter, Jerry Lou Mosbrucker, son-in-law, Wayne Volk, brothers, Matt, Lee and Jonathan (infant) and sisters, Tillie Blasek and Kay Zahnow.
