George passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at CHI St. Joseph’s Health in Dickinson.
George was born on February 2, 1939 in his family home south of Dickinson to Nick and Genevieve (Laufer) Frank. He grew up on the family farm where he learned the trade that would become his livelihood and passion. At the age of 21 he joined the Army where he served honorably for three years. He came back home and took over the family farm becoming a third generation farmer. In 1970 he married the love of his life, Earlene Sargeant. Together they had six children: Richard, Sherry, Sheila, Barry, Lucas, and Donna. The only thing George loved more than being a farmer was being a husband and a father. George’s love for the land and for his family grew directly out of his love of God. George will be deeply missed by all those who knew him, and especially by all those who loved him.
George is survived by his wife, Earlene; sons, Richard (Jamie) of Fargo, Barry (Melissa) of Wahpeton, Lucas (Taren) of Dickinson; daughters, Sherry (Jeffrey) Luse of Belfield, Sheila (fiancé, Alejandro Abdo) Frank of Dickinson, Donna (Travis) Anderson of Fargo; nine grandchildren; brother, Roger (Deborah) Frank of Afton, MN; sisters, Jean Kostelecky of Galesburg, IL, Roseline (Marion) Coleman of Billings, MT, Sister Loretta Frank of Maryknoll, NY, Nancy Ender of Brownsville, MN, Anita Frank of Rochester, MN and Regina Brackett of Billings, MT, numerous nieces, nephews and god-children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicodemus and Genevieve; brother, Nicodemus and infant brother Joseph.
