George Hondl

Funeral Mass for George Hondl, 76, of Dickinson is 10:00 a. m. Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dickinson with Father Jeff Zwack celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery in Dickinson. Visitation is Monday, July 31, 2006 from 9:00 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. with a Rosary and Prayer service at 7:00 p. m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel in Dickinson. George passed away, Thursday, July 28, 2006 at his home, south of Dickinson. George Hondl was born October 12, 1929 to Anton and Anna (Sivak) Hondl at Dickinson, North Dakota. He grew up and attended the St. Joseph Grade School. He then began farming with his parents south of Dickinson. On June 11, 1951 George married Grace Ficek at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. To this union three children were born: Gary, Georgia, and Jimmy. In 1954, they moved to their present day farm and have lived there since. At the age of 57, George suffered a major stroke and he still had a zest for life. He continued to live at home until the time of his death. His world was his family. When he was able to farm he loved raising cattle and walking through the wheat fields. He had a strong faith in God and always told us to pray. George was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and the Eagle?s Club. Survivors include: his wife, Grace of Dickinson; two sons: Gary (Charlotte) Hondl, and Jimmy Hondl, all of Dickinson; one daughter: Georgia (Ron) Obritsch, of Dickinson; one brother, Steve (Martha) Hondl of Dickinson; three grandchildren: Kari (Todd) Karlin of Billings, Montana, Justin (Karie) Obritsch, of Dickisnon, Tracy (Travis) Simnioniw, of Dickinson; and one great-grandchild, Taylor Karlin, of Billings, Montana. George passed away Friday, July 28, 2006 at his home south of Dickinson. Further arrangements are pending.
