Funeral Services for George J. Dietz, 82 of Baker will be 2:00 p. m. , Friday, February 28, 2014 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker. Father Thomas Tobin will be officiating. Burial will be in the Bonnievale Cemetery with Military Honors by the American Legion Post #35. Family will receive friends from 5:00 p. m. to 7:00 p. m. , Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Stevenson Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Friday from 9 a. m. until service time. George passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2014, at the Fallon Medical Complex in Baker. George Joseph Dietz was born on September 29, 1931 in Baker, Montana the son of Joe and Hazel (Bergman) Dietz. He grew up and attended school in Plevna, Montana. George enlisted into the US Air Force and served during the Korean Conflict. After returning to Montana, he began a long career in the oilfield business. Over the years he worked for various companies, Dowell, Big M, John’s Oilfield Service, and finished with Western Oilfield Service. George was married to Mary Lee Moseley on September 21, 1958. To this union two children were born, Dawn Marie and Dennis Lee. After their marriage they lived in Glendive until 1963 when they moved to Baker where they have made their home since. Following an accident in 1981 George was disabled and retired from the oilfield work. Due to failing health George moved into the Fallon Memorial Nursing Home in 2013. George attended the St. John Catholic Church in Baker where he was baptized as a child. He was a member of the American Legion Post #35 of Baker. George enjoyed fishing, playing cards, going hunting with Dennis and camping with the family over the years. Survivors include, his wife, Mary Lee, Baker, MT; two children, Dawn Marie (Chuck) Lee, Baker, MT and Dennis Lee (Gracie) Dietz, Corpus Christi, TX; five grandchildren, Victoria Powell, Douglas Dietz, William Dietz and Brooke Dietz all of Corpus Christi, TX and MeKenzie Lee, Baker, MT and three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard “Dick” (Jean) Dietz, Fort Duchesne, UT and William J. (Dianne) Dietz, Plevna, MT; a sister-in-law, Gloria Dietz, Glendive, MT and a brother-in-law, Frank Klauzer, Andover, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Franklyn, Jerome and Bobby; two sisters, Evelyn Dietz and Patsy Klauzer; and two sister-in-laws, Violet and Neva Dietz.
