Funeral Mass for George L. Kubischta, 87, of Dickinson, will be 11:00 a. m. , Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dickinson with Father Kregg Hochhalter celebrating. Interment will be in St. Wenceslaus Cemetery.
Visitation for George will be 12:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. , Monday, April 22, 2013 at Stevenson Funeral Home with a Rosary and Vigil Service being led at 7:00 p. m. by Deacon Bob Stockert. Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 8:00 a. m. to 10:00 a. m. at Stevenson Funeral Home.
George passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson, ND.
George L. Kubischta was born November 26, 1925 on the family farm south of Dickinson, ND, to Joseph F. and Victoria (Sykora) Kubischta. He attended Frenzel country school for eight years. He then worked on the family farm as well as neighboring farms until his enlistment in the US Army in 1944. He proudly served his country in the Pacific during World War II being honorably discharged in 1946. After returning to Dickinson, George and Martha Ficek were married November 5, 1946 in New Hradec, ND. Together they raised five children, Louise, Ron, Kathy, Rose and Arnie. George was owner and operator of Kubischta Excavation until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing cards and collecting family history. George and Martha were married 51 years before she passed away in 1998. George and Dolores Decker were married on August 10, 2001 and have made Dickinson their home since. George was a past member of the Dickinson VFW club.
George is survived by his wife Dolores; his children Louise (Al) Powers, Oconto, WI, Ron (Robbee) Westminster, CO, Kathy (Gene) Kinzel, Dickinson, Rose (Tom) Kuntz, Dickinson and Arnie Kubischta, Dickinson. George was blessed with 11 grandchildren: Jenifer Powers, Chris (Elizabeth) Powers, Dante (Alda) Kubischta, Shea (Joanne) Kubischta, Cory (Josh) Wood, Lisa (Brian) Moe, Lora (Micah) Grafenstein-Kinzel, John Kinzel, Kyle (Amber) Kuntz, Christina (Erick) Gisvold, and Brent (Kim) Kubischta and 22 great-grandchildren; two brothers, William (Beatrice) Kubischta, Manning, ND, James Kubischta, Dickinson, ND; a sister Dorothy Ficek, Dickinson, ND; a sister-in-law Marge Kubischta as well as numerous nieces and nephews,George’s extended family includes, Robert Decker (friend Connie), Las Vegas, NV, Rodney Decker, Dickinson, Richard Decker (friend Debbie), Dickinson, Karen Damske, Dickinson, Jeanie (Alan) Kadrmas, Dickinson and Alan Decker, Roseville, MN and numerous extended grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Martha, brother Ludwig and his wife Eva, sister Marie and brother-in-law Otto Ficek, and a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Kubischta.
