George Kudrna

A Funeral Mass for George Kudrna, 82, of Dickinson, will be 10:00 a. m. , Monday, July 8, 2013 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Dickinson with Father Shannon Lucht celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.


Visitation for George will be 2:00 p. m. to 7:00 p. m. , Sunday, July 7th at Stevenson Funeral Home with a Rosary and Vigil service being held at 3:00 p.m.


George passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at St. Luke’s Home in Dickinson.


George Kudrna was born January 20, 1931 in Stark County, the son of Peter P. and Philomina (Simek) Kudrna. He grew up on the family farm, attended country school and school in New Hradec, later graduating from Model High in 1948. After his schooling, he continued to work on the family farm. On April 16, 1951, George and Elizabeth Jablonsky were united in marriage at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in New Hradec. The couple made their home on the Kudrna farm where they raised their family and continued to farm. In 2005, the couple retired and moved into Dickinson. In 2008, due to failing health, George moved into Country House until recently, moving into St. Luke’s Home. George enjoyed listening to old time music, dancing, playing cards, family gatherings and especially his grandchildren. George was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church and for several years served as an usher. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and for many years served as the Rosary leader for many of the K of C members. George worked at the Knights of Columbus for over 20 years and he was a 4th Degree Knight and served as Grand Knight. He was a member of Catholic Workman and served as secretary for several terms. George was active in the community, serving on the Dunn County ASC Board of Directors and the West Plains Electric Board of Directors.


He is survived by his wife, Betty of Dickinson; sons, Daniel (Sandy) Kudrna of Velva, ND and Douglas Kudrna of Laurel, MT; daughter, Deanna (Curtis) Steffan of Dickinson; seven grandchildren, Levi & Isaac Kudrna, Katie (Michael) Chorne, Jonathan Kudrna, Samantha, Jordan and Skylar Steffan; two great-grandchildren, Scarlett and Easton Chorne; sisters, Georgian Pannone of Sun City, AZ, Marie (Darold) Miller of Fargo; and brother–in-law, Adam Wock of Dickinson.


George is preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Arlene Wock.
