George Semerad

Funeral services for George Semerad, 89, of Dickinson will be 10:00 a. m. , Thursday, September 8, 2016 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with his nephew, Father Bruce Krebs, celebrating. Interment follows at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery. Visitation for George will be 4:00 p. m. -7:00 p. m. , Wednesday, September 7th at Stevenson Funeral Home with a vigil and rosary service being held at 6:00 p. m. with his nephew, Bernie Krebs, leading. George passed away Thursday, August 25, 2016 at CHI St. Alexius Health, Bismarck. As the second generation in US, the 3rd of 7 kids, George Joseph Semerad—their 1st son–was born to Theodore “Ted” and Anna (Svoboda) Semerad on October 8, 1926. On their Czech farm in New Hradec, because of his strong arms, George raised horses, sheep, and cattle aside his Dad during the Depression. He loved when His Mom fried chicken with potatoes and put it with her cucumber salad. Past growing and school, during the summer of 1949, at the barn dance, he started courting Eva Privratsky and 2 years later they married on June 12, 1951. After having Ron and Jaynee, sold the farm and moved to Dickinson where Laura joined the family, and the house they bought together he’s lived ever since. He enjoyed popcorn balls, hotdogs, and root beer with hobbies as growing gardens with Eva, cars and rebuilders lawnmowers to sell as well as helping others. Often he cranked the radio LOUD for his old-Time Czech Polkas, Country, Hymns and the latest on Tradio. Later in years his daily ritual was his shows: Bonanza, Gunsmoke, Texas Rangers, and Wheel of fortune. Overtime he worked at Dickinson Livestock, with His son Ron at Kolling construction, and ending at RoyaI Oak where he retired. George is survived by his wife, Eva; son, Ron (Karen) Semerad of Bismarck; daughters, Jayne Buzalsky of Bismarck and Laura (Paul) Sticka of Walla Walla,WA. He’s been given 8 grandkids: Sheena (Lee) Strand, Keith (Shelby) Semerad, Tanya Buzalsky, Wendy Johnson, Kevin (Zinda Aken) Semerad, Brandy Sticka, Kurt Semerad and Andy (Tara) Sticka. They have 11 Great Grandkids: Samantha Johnson; Ashley Buzalsky; Mercedes, Vanessa, and Carter Strand; Dylan Semerad; Joshua Sticka-Snyder and Tyler Green; and Lindsay, Lily, and Eric Sticka. He’s been blessed with many nieces and nephews. Last of his family, He is preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Anna Semerad and his siblings: Betty, Martha, Evelyn, Jerry, Bertha, and Roger; grandson, Dave Buzalsky, Jr. ; great-granddaughter, Khloe Semerad; son-in-law, David Buzalsky; one great-great-granddaughter.
