Funeral services for George Tabor, 80, of Beulah, formerly of Killdeer will be 2:00 p. m. Friday, March 20, 2015 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Killdeer with Pastor John and Rachel Simonson officiating. Burial will follow in Killdeer Cemetery. Family Receiving Friends will be from 4:00 p. m. to 6:00 p. m. Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Killdeer, ND. George passed away Friday, March 13, 2015 at Sakakawea Medical Center in Hazen, ND. George Tabor was born December 13, 1934 In Grassy Butte, the son of Anthony and Martha (Kowis) Tabor. He grew up and attended country school in Grassy Butte, ND. George then helped on the family farm until his brother Richard returned from the service, allowing him to enlist in the army. After being honorably discharged from the service, George worked for his uncle at Georges’ Bar in Grassy Butte, where he eventually took over, owning and operating the bar. On March 17, 1964, he married Arlene (Polly) Maier in Belle Fourche, SD. To this union four children were born, Greg, Andrea, Joe and Amy. They moved to the ranch North of Killdeer in the Spring of 1966 where they ranched until 2011. They then moved into Killdeer for a few years until moving to Beulah where they now reside. George enjoyed hunting, riding the range, spending time with family, ranching, and taking care of his cattle. He especially loved social gatherings with neighbors; always striking up a conversation with everyone. George also found a love for golf later in life. He was an active member in the Killdeer Public School Board, St. John’s Lutheran Church, and Dunn County Social Service Board. In 1973, George was awarded the Dunn County farm family of the year and the Dunn County Agriculturist of the year in 1981. George is survived by his wife, Polly of Beulah, ND; sons, Greg (Lori) Tabor; grandsons: Garett, Derek, and Dylan of Killdeer, ND, Joe (Sharon) Tabor; granddaughter: Ashley (Anthony) of Copperas Cove, TX; daughters, Andrea Anderson; grandkids: Dustin, Jordan (Chandra), and Koeyn of Beulah, ND; Amy (Mike) Kirchgessner; grandsons: Kaden and Ashton of Concord, NC; great-grandchildren, Tyce, Masyn, Carson, and Christian; brothers, Richard (Shirley) Tabor of Queen Creek, AZ, Dale (Tish) Tabor of Tuscon, AZ, Lynn (Ilene) Tabor of Gold Canyon, AZ; sisters, Eleanor Thompson, Anna Marie Sherry, and Rosella Hale all of Seattle, WA, and Sandi Friez of Mesa, AZ. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, David Tabor and infant brother Conrad. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch – Minot or Home on the Range for Boys and Girls – Sentenial Butte.
