George Weiler

Mass of Christian Burial for George F. Weiler, 80, of Dickinson is 2:00 p. m. on Friday, March 26, 2004 with Father Austin Vetter, celebrating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph?s Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday from 12:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. with a rosary at 7:00 p. m. followed by a vigil at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel. George passed away, Tuesday, March 23, 2004 at his home. George was born September 13, 1923 in Sheffield, ND to Frank D. and Catherine (Urlacher) Weiler. He was raised in the Sheffield and New England area and attended Country School Stoltz and St. Pius. George married Laura Miller on October 30, 1945 in St. Joseph?s Catholic Church. The couple farmed in the Sheffield area for two years and in 1948 moved to a farm eight miles SW of Dickinson, farming here until 1984. At this time the family moved into Dickinson and George began working at the Knights of Columbus Club retiring in 1989. George was a member of the Knights of Columbus Club, St. Pius Verein, AARP, along with volunteer work. He was a past member of St. Joseph?s Catholic Church and a member of St. Patrick?s Catholic Church. George enjoyed fishing, woodcarving, walking with his dog ?Sambo?. He raised a wonderful garden and enjoyed sharing it with his neighbors. He loved his time with family especially his grandchildren and playing cards. George is survived by his two daughters, Marjorie (Gerald) Hirning, Bismarck, Lucille Dullum, Dickinson; four sons, Larry Weiler, Houston, TX, Rodney Weiler, West Valley City, UT, Kevin (Linda) Weiler, Dickinson, Steven (Alicin) Sioux Fall, SD; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; special friend, Agnes Smith; one sister, Eva Hirsch, Keizer, OR; two brothers, Jack Weiler, Dickinson and Henry Weiler, New England. He is preceded in death by his wife, Laura, an infant daughter, Mary, two sons, Raymond and Eugene, seven brothers and one sister.
