Gerald Francis Burwick, son of Milo L. and Rosie (Tessier) Burwick was born on September 15, 1935 in Belfield, ND. He attended St. Patrick’s Grade School and Model High. Gerald was proud to be the first student from Model High to letter in three sports: football, basketball and track. Gerald enlisted in the Air Force on January 10, 1955 and graduated from high school later that spring. After basic training, Gerald went on to serve in Tokyo, Japan during the Korean War. On March 22, 1956, Gerald married Eileen M. Ficek in Dickinson, ND. From this loving union, three children were born: Lana, Milo F. and Todd. The couple moved to Long Beach, California where they lived until Gerald was honorably discharged in 1960 achieving the rank of Airman First Class in the Air Force Air Police Honor Guard Company. Upon returning to North Dakota from the service, Gerald went to work at Dakota Clay. In 1962, he began his career with Baker Boy. From 1977 until 1979, Gerald owned and operated Dough Boy Bakery and Burwick’s Kitchen in Hazen. In 1979, he returned to Baker Boy and held various positions with the growing company. He lived and breathed Baker Boy; traveling throughout the United States and to various countries attending vendor shows, touring plants, and scouting for new equipment that would benefit the company. He was very proud of all his achievements with the Baker Boy. After 50 years of service, Gerald retired in May of 2012. Gerald loved his big boy toys. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and his annual trip to Sturgis. He also enjoyed relaxing, watching his fish in the aquarium and football. But most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were his pride and joy. He was always very proud of his children and grandchildren and loved them very much. Gerald was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Elks Lodge and St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
