Gerald "Gary" Emmil

Liturgy of the Word for Gerald “Gary” Emmil, 78, of Dickinson will be 1:00 pm Thursday, June 13, 2024 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

Visitation for Gary will be one hour prior to the service.

Gary passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2024 at St. Benedict’s Health Center.

Gerald Emmil was born on December 2, 1945 in Dickinson, North Dakota to Peter and Leocadia (Huschka) Emmil. He attended school in South Heart, graduating from South Heart High School. Following graduation, he attended Joseph’s School of Hair Design. Gary worked as a hair dresser in California before working as a forklift operator. He then returned to the family farm south of South Heart. After a stroke in 1998, Gary became unable to work and entered the nursing home.

Gary loved traveling and took trips to Germany, Rome, Austria, and many places in the United States. He also enjoyed playing the harmonica, which he owned six of. Gary was a kind and sensitive man who loved life. He will be dearly missed.

Gary is survived by his sisters, Vivian Hauck of GA, Jan (Bob) Zastoupil of WA, Doris (Paul) Fettig of ND, Lydia Meduna of ND, and Daphne Emmil of ND; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Leocadia; brothers, Larry and Keith; sister, Delores Beaudoin; and brothers-in-law, Fran Hauck, Bill Meduna, and Dennis Beaudoin.
