Funeral Liturgy without Mass for Gerald (Gary) Obrigewitch, 68 of Wibaux will be 1:30 p. m. Tuesday, January 11, 2005 at the Medora Community Center with Father David Richter celebrating. Burial will follow in the Medora Cemetery. Gary passed away Saturday, January 8, 2005 at St. Joseph?s Hospital in Dickinson with his family by his side. Visitation will be Monday, January 9, 2005 from 9:00 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. with a Family Rosary at 6:15 p. m. and Vigil Service at 7:00 p. m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel in Dickinson. Visitation will continue on Tuesday one hour prior to service at the Medora Community Center. Gary was born in Belfield, North Dakota on March 19, 1936 to Tony and Bertha (Schaeffer) Obrigewitch. He grew up on the home place north of Belfield along with his twelve brothers and sisters. He attended country school in Billings County and high school at the Assumption Abbey in Richardton. In 1955, he joined the Army and was released in 1957. Following his honorable discharge, he traveled, rodeoed and worked various jobs throughout the West which included working for a stock contractor and as a stunt extra in various Western television series in the 1950?s. In 1963, he married Karen Paasch from Medora, North Dakota. They lived and worked in North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming and Wibaux, Montana ? where they have ranched for the last 36 years. Gary was a member and served on the Medora Grazing Association, was a volunteer fireman, and owned and operated the Wibaux feedlot and livestock scale. Gary enjoyed the company of his family and friends, checking the range and cattle, and going to bull sales. He especially enjoyed time with his children and grandchildren, and his loyal mutt ? Bart. Survivors include his mother, Bertha Obrigewitch of Belfield; his wife, Karen of Wibaux; sons: Ren (Kelly) of Jakarta, Indonesia, Jay (Jolene) of Beach, North Dakota and Dey (Jennifer) of Beach, North Dakota; a daughter, Jill Obrigewitch of Wibaux; grandchildren: Lily, Coy and a new grandchild in May. Gary is also survived by siblings: Charlotte Hlebechuk, Cliff, Gloria (Jerry) Weber, Claude (Ruth), Maurice (Bernie), Bertram (Cecelia); Val (Carol), Rose, Nita (Curt) Talkington, Tony, Tim and Terry. He was preceded in death by his father, Tony Obrigewitch.
