The Mass of Christian Burial for Gerald Plunkett, 72, Dickinson, will be 10 a. m. , Monday, March 5, 2007, at St. Joseph?s Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. Dennis Schafer celebrating. Interment will be 1 p. m. (MT) Tuesday at the ND Veterans Cemetery, MandanVisitation will be 2 p. m. to 9 p. m. , Sunday, at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson with a rosary and vigil at 7 p. m. Gerald passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2007, at St. Joseph?s Hospital and Health Center, Dickinson. Gerald was born August 9, 1934, in Mott, to Daniel and Anna (Soehren) Plunkett. He attended Walker Township School to the 9th grade. Gerald worked on the family farm until joining the U. S. Army on November 8, 1955. He was honorably discharged on November 7, 1961. Gerald married Clara Schafer on November 10, 1958, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Glen Ullin. He worked at the North Dakota State Penn. from 1959 to 1973 where he ended his career as Assistant Deputy Warden. Gerald then worked at Marv?s Hardware prior to moving to Gillette Wyo. , where he was employed at Unit Rig for twenty years. Clara died in 2001. Gerald loved to fish, hunt, listen to music and visit. He was a member of the American Legion. He is survived by: his seven children, Melody (Joseph) Elis, Dickinson, Colleen (Mark) Martin, Ocoee, FL, Mark (Rhonda) Plunkett, Dickinson, Faye (Roy) Jenkins, Casper, WY, Jerry (Carol) Plunkett, Seattle, WA, Todd (Christine) Plunkett, Casper, WY, and Valerie (Jeff) Nelson, Dickinson; 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and one sister, Delores Raab, Mott. He was preceded in death by: his parents, wife, mother and father in law, five brothers in law and four sisters in law.
