Funeral Mass for Gerald ?Gary? Quintus, 59, of Richardton, will be 9:30 a. m. M. D. T. , Saturday, July 9, 2011 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Richardton with Father Boniface Muggli, O. S. B. , Abbot Brian Wangler, O. S. B. , and Deacon Terry Quintus con-celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Mary?s Cemetery, Richardton. Visitation for Gary will be from 1:00 p. m. to 7:00 p. m. , C. S. T. , Friday, July 8, 2011 at St. Ann?s Catholic Church, Hebron, with a Rosary and Vigil Service being held at 6:00 p. m. C. S. T. Gary passed away Monday, July 4, 2011, at the Rochester Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. Gary Alois Quintus was born February 2, 1952 in Dickinson, the son of Norbert and Veronica (Buresh) Quintus. He grew up in the Haymarsh area, attending school there through the seventh grade. Gary graduated from Glen Ullin High School in 1970. He went on to attend Dickinson State College earning his degree in English, Physical Education and Drivers Education. On July 29, 1977, Gary married Mary Geiger in Mandan, ND. The couple was blessed with three children: Dustin, Garrett and Carly. Through the years Gary taught at a variety of schools throughout North Dakota, including Parshall, Glen Ullin and Steele. He later went on to earn his Masters Degree in School Administration from the University of Mary, working in Stanton and Richardton where he retired. In recent years, he still helped at the Hebron School. Gary was dedicated to his profession, being a member and serving as Secretary/Treasurer for North Dakota Small Organized Schools and as a member of the Board of Directors of the North Dakota Council of Educational Leaders. Gary enjoyed spending time on the farm and being around animals, especially horses. He was known to bring countless animals home for his children from the auctions he attended. Gary also liked working in the garden. He had a passion for sports, as witnessed by his many years of coaching. Gary also loved spending time hunting and was a hunter?s safety instructor for over 20 years. In his free time, Gary spent time golfing. He was devoted to the Catholic Church and was ordained a Deacon in 2004. Gary was a quiet man but always stayed active. He loved to teach and help others in their time of need. Gary battled and persevered until the very end. Gary is survived by his wife, Mary of Richardton; his children, Dustin, special friend Lauren Orcutt and Garrett all of Dickinson and Carly and special friend Blake Weld of St. Cloud, MN; his mother Veronica Quintus of Bismarck; three sisters, Consuela ?Connie? (Ken) James of Billings, MT, Marcine ?Marcy? (Steve) Moore of Mandan, ND and Doreen ?Dorie? (Duane) Eichele of Bismarck, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Norbert Quintus; one brother-in-law, Neal Geiger; both his paternal and maternal grandparents; two aunts; two uncles; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law.
