Gerald Rice

Funeral Services for Gerald Rice, 76, of Taylor, ND will be 10:00 a. m. , Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at the Taylor Lutheran Church, Taylor, ND with Pastor Bob Wittstruck officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 a. m. to 5:00 p. m. , Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson, ND. Jerry passed away on Friday, December 18, 2009 at MedCenter One in Bismarck, ND from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Gerald Allen Rice was born September 7, 1933 in Nimrod, MN to Casper and Carina Evelyn (Ramsey) Rice. He grew up and later moved to the Hibbing Chisolm area. It was here where he met Marjorie Ann Radaich and the two were married in 1954. The couple spent time at various Navy posts in CA before moving to Virginia and eventually back to Hibbing, MN. Jerry retired from the Navy. He spent the next several years living in the Iron Range in MN before moving to ND. Jerry eventually settled in the Taylor, ND area with his wife, Evelyn Rice. He enjoyed visiting with friends and patrons at JR?s Tavern in Taylor. Jerry was an avid stamp collector. He also enjoyed model cars and Budweiser Beer Stiens. He liked working on old cars and cheering on his Minnesota Vikings. Jerry was very patriotic and proud of his military service. He is survived by his son, Jeff (LaVern), Rice, Nashwauk, MN; daughter, Mary Christine (Don) Firchow, Treasure Island, FL; grandchildren, Amanda Rice, Lori Smith, Joshua Smith, Nikki, Firchow, Dayna Firchow; brothers, Duane Rice, Nashwauk, MN and Ron (Alice) Rice, Hollister MO; sister, Marlys Hayes, Rochester, MN; step children, Debbie (fianc?, Monte Frey) Dannenfelzer, Hettinger, ND and Darrin (Sue) Erickson, Bismarck, ND; step grandchildren, Shawn (Lori) Frank, Jeff (Kim) Frank, Tiffany (Chris) Held, Jason Schwartz, Danielle Erickson, Marissa Faller, Derek Faller; step great grandchildren, Nixxen Held, Jaron Frank, Kayla Honeyman, Sarah Howe, Carson Held, Riley Held and Justice Anderson. Jerry is preceded in death his parents; wife, Evelyn; grandsons, Dennis Joseph Rice and James Charles Rice; step sons, Terry and Ronnie Erickson.
