Funeral services for Gerald “Jerry” Schmidt, 53, of Mounds View, MN, formerly of Dickinson, ND, will be 9:30 a. m. , Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Dickinson with Father Shannon Lucht celebrating. Burial will take place at a later date. Visitation for Jerry will be 5:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. , Monday, March 30, 2015 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson, with a Rosary and Vigil service being held at 7:00 p. m. Jerry passed away on March 23, 2015 at his home in Mounds View, MN. Gerald Anthony was born March 23, 1962 in Dickinson, ND, the son of Albert and Doloris (Meyer) Schmidt. He grew up on the family farm north west of town. Jerry attended St. Joseph’s grade school and graduated from Trinity High school in 1980. He earned degrees from North Dakota School of Science in Wahpeton, ND and later the University of North Dakota. After attending college Jerry moved to Wyoming and worked for The Industrial Company as a project safety manager. He continued to work as a safety manager with COP Construction and later Oftedal Construction in Billings Montana. In 2012 Jerry helped found C&J Trucking that was operated out of Minneapolis, MN. Jerry enjoyed cooking, being outdoors, Earnhardt racing, heavy equipment and working with the “Big Boy Toys. “Jerry is survived by his mother, Doloris; brother, Douglas (Kathy) Schmidt of Dickinson, ND; sister, Cynthia (Al) Heidt of Glendive, MT, and numerous nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Albert; brother, Allan; and grandparents, John Jr and Katherina Schmidt and John J. and Margaret Meyer
