Helen Geraldine ?Gerry? McRae Stevenson passed away peacefully in her sleep Friday morning, March 26, 2010, at Worland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. Gerry was born April 19, 1922, in Great Falls, MT, to Archie and Jenny (Knutson) McRae. She grew up on the family wheat farm near Dutton, MT. Gerry attended the Dutton schools, graduating from Dutton High School in 1940. She attended Northern Montana College in Havre, MT, obtaining her teaching certificate. Gerry taught in both the Sweet Grass and Cut Bank, MT, elementary schools before her marriage to Lee Stevenson on June 17, 1945, in Dutton, MT. Gerry and Lee lived in Great Falls, MT, San Francisco, CA, and Lewistown, MT, in the early years of their marriage. In 1952, they moved to Baker, MT, where they owned and operated the Stevenson Funeral Home for thirty years. While in Baker, they raised four daughters and made many friendships with the wonderful people there. Gerry was a member of the First Baptist Church in Baker, MT, where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She also directed and sang in the church choir. After Lee retired, they spent twelve winters in Mesa, AZ, making new friends and relaxing in the warm climate. In 2000, Gerry moved to Worland, WY, to be closer to her daughters and family. While in Worland, she enjoyed living at the Apple Apartments. She also participated in exercise class, fun band, games, and doing jigsaw puzzles at the Worland Senior Center. Gerry was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church. She attended the Senior Ladies Sunday School class and appreciated their support and friendship. Gerry is survived by four daughters: Connie (Jim) Wineinger, Worland, WY, Karen (Bob) Osland, Hebron, ND, Sharon (Leroy) Toews, Billings, MT, and Lori (Rich) Schaal, Worland, WY; eight grandchildren: Jill Wineinger, Ross Wineinger, Heather (Osland) Privratsky, Jeff Osland, Travis Toews, Andrea Toews, Ryan Schaal, and Kelci Schaal; three great-grandchildren: Alex Toews, Jared Toews, and Alysse Wineinger; and one twin brother, Jerald (Flora) McRae, Dutton, MT. She was preceded in death by both parents; husband, Lee; and brother, Kenneth McRae. Gerry loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. Her hobbies included cooking, sewing, flower gardening, crafts, ceramics, and singing. Her kind and gentle spirit will always be remembered. We are at peace knowing she is at home in the loving arms of her Lord and Savior. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a. m. Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at the Bryant Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kevin LeBoeuf officiating. Visitation for family and friends will take place Monday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 p. m. at the Bryant Funeral Home Chapel. Montana services will be held 11:00 a. m. Saturday, April 3, 2010, at Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker, MT, with Pastor Levi Durfey officiating. Burial will be in the family lot at the Bonnievale Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be held Friday, April 2, 2010, from 12:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. with a prayer service being held at 7:00 p. m. at Stevenson Funeral Home in BakerRemembrances and condolences may be shared with the family at www. bryantfuneralhomeonline. com and www. stevensonfuneralhome. com.
