Funeral Mass for Gertrude Gratz, 97 of Dickinson will be 10:00 a. m. on Tuesday, October 5, 2004 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dickinson with Father James Braaten, celebrating. Burial will follow at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery in Dickinson. Visitation will begin on Monday, October 4, 2004 from 9:00 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. with a Prayer Service and Rosary at 7:00 p. m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson. Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 8:00 a. m. until 9:00 a. m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson. Gertrude passed away Thursday, September 30, 2004 at St. Benedict?s Health Center in Dickinson. Gertrude was born November 28, 1906 in Russia, the daughter of Valentine and Elizabeth Baron Ferderer. She came to American at the age of one with her parents and twin brother. The family settled north of Judson, North Dakota. Gertrude grew up and attended schools there. On February 20, 1928 she was married to Ralph Gratz at St. Vincent?s Church at Crown Butte, ND. They farmed there until 1937 when they moved to the New Salem area where they farmed until 1965. At that time, they moved to Dickinson where they made their home since. Gertrude always enjoyed her family, gardening and needlework. Church was very important to her. Throughout her life, Gertrude?s children were her number one pride and joy. Survivors include five sons: Adam (Ann) Gratz of Dickinson, Urben (Irene) Gratz of Mott, Al (JoAnne) Gratz of Spokane, WA, Don (Judy) Gratz of Thompson Falls, MT and Eric (Sue) Gratz of Fresno, CA; a daughter, Mildred (Patrick) Marcotte of Puyallup, WA; 26 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a son, Thomas Gratz.
