Gertrude Knopp

Funeral services for Gertrude Knopp, 89 of Hebron will be 11:00 a.m., CT, Friday, October 21, 2022 at St. John Church in Hebron with Pastor Gaylund Olson officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Visitation for Gertie will be Thursday, October 20, 2022 at the church from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., CT, with a prayer service being held at 6:30 p.m., CT.

Gertie passed away Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Marian Manor in Glen Ullin.

Gertrude A. Duckwitz was born May 1, 1933 in Hebron to Mr. & Mrs. Ernest and Lena (Senne) Duckwitz. She was baptized at St. John Church and confirmed with the largest class at St. John Church. 

On June 14, 1952 Gertie married the love of her life, Gilbert Knopp.  She enjoyed having her grandchildren and her four nephews from Colorado and California spending the summer with them on the farm. Due to health reasons, Gilbert and Gertrude moved off the farm and to Hebron in 1994. In 2016, the couple moved to Primrose in Bismarck and then in 2018 their final move was to Marian Manor. Gilbert passed away on March 20, 2018.

Gertie is survived by her son, Douglas (Marlene) Knopp of ID; daughter, Kathy (Grant) Walth of Hebron; grandchildren; Jason (Michelle) Knopp, Chad (Jennifer) Knopp, Jeremey (Sarah) Knopp, Teresa (Tom) Potier, Daryl (Susie) Knopp, Cordell (Roxane) Walth, John (Danielle) Walth, Misty (Justin) Freeburg; great-grandchildren, Miranda, Mariah, Mary, Trevor, Wyatt, Ella, Spencer, Donny, Trinity, Ethan, Keaton, Kane, Penalton, Addison, Virgil and Damien; great-great granddaughter, Riley Knopp; two sisters; Hedwig La Rocque of El Paso Texas, and Caroline Marthaller of Dickinson.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Lena; husband, Gilbert Knopp; infant twin brothers, and brothers, Carl, Albert, Paul, George and Harold; sisters, Clara Duckwitz, Minnie Skinner Wall and Helen Maas Hoff.
