The funeral Mass for Gertrude “Trude” Tuhy, 83, of Killdeer, will be 10:30 a. m. , Saturday, June 18, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Killdeer with Father Darnis Selvanayakam celebrating. Burial will follow the service in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery, New Hradec. Visitation for Trude will be from 5:00 p. m. to 7:00 p. m. , Friday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with a rosary & vigil service being held at 6:00 p. m. Trude passed away Monday, June 13, 2016 at CHI St. Alexius Health – Dickinson surrounded by her loving family. Gertrude “Trude” was born November 17, 1932 in Dickinson, the daughter of Anton J. and Helen (Jablonsky) Sadowsky. Growing up on the family farm/ranch near Manning, she attended New Hradec Catholic School through the eighth grade and Model High in Dickinson, graduating with the class of 1950. Trude married George Tuhy on May 29, 1951 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic church in New Hradec. The couple started their married life farming near South Heart. They were blessed with six children, Dan, Jane, Tom, Mary, Bob, and Ann. In 1965 they moved their family to a ranch north of Dunn Center and became a part of the Killdeer and Dunn Center communities. George and Trude became residents of Killdeer in 1991 and Trude made her final home at Hill Top Home of Comfort in October 2014. Trude enjoyed gardening, playing piano, sewing, reading, cooking her famous chicken noodle soup and baking. She found great pleasure in feeding her husband, children and grandchildren. Trude volunteered and helped in her community and her church as a member of South Heart St. Mary’s Altar Society, Killdeer St. Joseph’s Church secretary, St. Joseph’s Altar Society, taught Sunday school, served as a lector, and a Eucharistic Minister. She also served on the FHA Board, worked at the Killdeer Public Library and Western Livestock. Trude greatly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and one of her greatest pleasures was visiting with family and friends. Her Catholic faith was important to her and she loved attending Mass. She will be remembered as a ‘prayer warrior’ and a care giver. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends who cherished her. Gertrude is survived by her husband, George; children, Dan (Nancy) Tuhy of Dunn Center, Jane (Art) Perdue of Minot, Tom (Suzi) Tuhy of Dunn Center, Mary (Bob) Wheeling of Killdeer, Bob (Darlene-fiancé) Tuhy of Dunn Center, and Ann (Kim) Knutson of Dunn Center; 15 grandchildren, Steven (Danielle) Tuhy, Kelly (Jimmy) Fritel, Rachel (Travis) Kuehl, Shane Tuhy, Jeffery (D’Ann) Erickson, Katie (Shawn) Donahey, Karolyn Tuhy, Sean Tuhy, Mandy Wheeling, Jacob Wheeling (Fiance’ Brittany Bartsch), Kristi Knutson, Kelsey Knutson, Kristin (Rory) Faulkner, Jamie (Jake) Meidinger, Erik Tuhy; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anton and Helen Sadowsky; brothers, Pete and Bob Sadowsky; sisters, Alice Flemming and Lydia Scherman.
