Gilbert Buzalsky

A Funeral Service for Gilbert Buzalsky, 93, of Dickinson, will be 10:00 a.m. MT, Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson.

Burial will take place 2:00 p.m. CT, Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan, ND.

Gilbert Buzalsky, loving father of five children, passed away on Friday, April 7, 2023.

On November 22, 1929, Gilbert was born to Edward and Ann (Szymanowski) Buzalsky of Amidon, North Dakota. Gilbert grew up with his sister Barbara on the family farm outside of Amidon. He enlisted in the army and served in the Korean conflict. He married Ruth Rocksvold on August 20, 1952. They were blessed with five children - Jawayne, Douglas, Pamela, Ronald, and Nancy.

Gilbert and Ruth created a loving home in Amidon. He worked for the Agricultural Stabilization Conservation Service for many years. The family relocated to New England, North Dakota in 1977 and Gilbert retired from government service in 1982. Gilbert and Ruth started working for the Farmers Union Insurance part-time.

Gilbert was very active in community service, including leadership roles with the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Lions Club, and senior citizen club. He was a member of both St. Mary and Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Churches.

Gilbert and Ruth enjoyed bowling, bingo, going to the casino, gaming, and playing cards. He had a great sense of humor and always enjoyed a good practical joke. The Buzalsky door was always open and their hospitality was appreciated by many. Gilbert remained very patriotic and raised the American flag daily outside their home. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge with his children on proper flag etiquette.

Gilbert and Ruth moved to Dickinson to enjoy their final years at Park Avenue Villa.

He was survived by his five children and 10 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, and wife.
