Gladys Lorraine Kolling, 94, Dickinson, passed away Monday, April 3, 2017 at St. Luke’s Home with her daughters by her side. Funeral services for Gladys will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 13, 2017 at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Lisa Lewton officiating. Burial will follow at the Dickinson Cemetery.
Gladys Zander was born February 22, 1923, to Robert and Ida (Jauss) Zander in Stark County, ND. She was raised on a farm south of Dickinson and graduated from Model High in 1941. On September 21, 1943, Gladys married Peter Kolling in El Paso, TX. She was a stay at home mother, raising her family.
Gladys was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church and a member of St. John Ladies Circle. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, reading, and especially cooking for her family. She was famous for her sweet rolls, kolaches and Easter bread. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family was always very important to mom and we will miss her, but will hold her in our hearts.
Gladys is survived by her eight children: Walter (Betty) Kolling, Dickinson, ND, Debi (Duane) Wamre, Dickinson, ND, Carey (Francis) Schwindt, Bismarck, ND, Paul (Sherry Borchard) Kolling, Stevensville, MT, Mark (Carla) Kolling, Bismarck, ND, Roger (Mardell Forster) Kolling, Bismarck, ND, Peter Kolling, Dillworth, MN, and Amy (Wayne) Jahner, Dickinson, ND; one brother, Gordon (Betty) Zander, Squim, WA, sisters-in-law, Mary Zander, Dickinson, ND, Elnora Zander, Scotland, SD; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Peter, infant son, James; and grandson, Jamie Schwindt; sisters, Adeline (Nick) Schmaltz, Delores (Lee) Moore, Eileen (Albert) Dobie, brothers, Norman, (Marie) Zander, Harold (Florence) Zander, Robert Zander, Jr. and Willard Zander.
Memorial preferred to St. John Altar Guild or charity of donor’s choice.
