Funeral Services for Gladys Parker, 88 of Ekalaka formerly of Billings will be 11:00 a. m. , Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Ekalaka with Tom Stieg officiating. Burial will be in the Beaver Lodge Cemetery, Ekalaka, MT. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a. m. to 11:00 a. m. on Saturday, March 29th at the Stevenson Funeral Home in Ekalaka, MT. Gladys passed away Saturday, March 22, 2014, at Dahl Memorial Hospital in Ekalaka. Gladys was the 6th child born to Charles and Maude (Wilson) Welch. She was born January 3, 1926 at the Rummelhart Ranch in the Mill Iron Community. Gladys attended country school until the 5th grade. The family moved to Ekalaka and Gladys graduated from C. C. H. S. in 1943. After graduation, Gladys attended Eastern Montana College, in Billings, MT. She earned a teaching degree and taught country schools. Later Gladys returned to nursing school in Aberdeen, SD. Gladys met her future husband, Philip Parker in Fallon, MT. The couple married in the summer of 1947. Gladys and Philip traveled with a construction crew and eventually lived in Billings, MT. Gladys and Philip had 2 children, the first baby died at birth but later a baby girl was born, Shelly Maude. Gladys enjoyed music, dancing and spending time with her family. She has made her home at Dahl Memorial Nursing Home since February 2007. Gladys is survived by two sister’s-in-law: Donna Welch, Billings, MT and Verna Welch, Libby, MT; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her parents; husband, Philip “Red”; infant son, Peregrine Enger Parker; daughter, Shelly Maude Parker; five brothers, Woodrow, Delbert “Jerry”, Elden “Cub”, Charles “Mel” and Clyde; sister, Lucille Venhaus; and special nephew Bob Welch.
