Funeral Service for Gladys Raaf, 93, of Hebron is 11:00 am (CST), Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in Hebron with Pastor David Ling officiating. Burial will be in the First Baptist Cemetery in Hebron. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm (CST), Monday, August 24, 2009 at the First Baptist Church followed by a Prayer Service at 7:00 pm (CST). Visitation will continue on Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the church. Gladys passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2009 at the Marion Manor Health Center in Glen Ullin, ND. Gladys Roth was born July 22, 1916 in Grant County, ND to Ludwig and Louise (Ulmer) Roth. She grew up and attended country schools in the Grant County area. She helped out with the family farm, as well as with her family. On October 5, 1940 Gladys and Alvin Raaf were married. Together they made their home on a farm 11 miles south of Antelope, ND and raised their three children, James, Sharon and Allen. Gladys enjoyed gardening, sewing and helped with all the farm duties including the milking. In 1978, Gladys moved into Hebron where she made her home until moving to the Marion Manor in Glen Ullin in 2007. She liked quilting, embroidery and getting together with family and friends to play board games. Every year Gladys looked forward to traveling to Washington to visit her family. She was also a very good cook and was especially known for her cheese buttons. She loved her children and always enjoyed having her grandchildren at the house. Gladys was a member of the First Baptist Church, Church Guild and Senior Citizens. She is survived by her children; James (Patricia) Raaf, Hebron, ND, Allen (Jean) Raaf, Pomeroy, Washington; son-in-law, Denis Tibor, Hebron, ND; grandchildren;, Kristi (Darvin) Schmidt, Mindy (Byron) Schatz, Courtney Raaf, all of Hebron, ND, Clint (Jessica G. ) Raaf, Portland, OR, Dustin Raaf (Heather – Fianc?e) Raaf, Shoreline, WA and Jessica Raaf (Gaspar – Fianc?e) Raaf, Beaverton, OR; great grandchildren, Laken and Jaden Schmidt, Kiana and Kaley Schatz, Angel Hern and Kimberly Ruelas. Gladys is preceded in death by both parents; husband, Alvin; daughter, Sharon Tibor and 13 siblings.
