Burial for Gladys Remfert, 90, of Hebron will be Friday, 10:00 a. m. CT at St. John UCC Cemetery. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a. m. CT, Friday, August 12, 2011 at St. John UCC Church, Hebron, ND. Visitation will be on Thursday, from 5:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. CT with a Prayer Service at 6:00 p. m. CT. at Spangelo-Stevenson Funeral Home, Hebron, ND. There will be no viewing at the church. Gladys passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at the Marion Manor Care Center, Glen Ullin, ND. Gladys D. (Toody) Remfert was born June 21, 1921 in Hebron, North Dakota to Adam and Lena (Birkmaier) Beyer. She was a life long resident of Hebron and graduated from Hebron High School in 1939. As a member of 1938 St. John Youth Fellowship she attended a young peoples? Sunday school convention in Fairmont, MN. She also attended a leadership training school in St. Peter, MN in 1939. The knowledge and inspiration stayed with her always. Toody married Edmond Remfert on March 16, 1943 in Hebron, where they raised their family. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother, assisting Ed in his Boy Scout work, a Sunday School teacher, and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was employed as a bookkeeper at the Hebron Farmers Elevator, and for many years at the Hebron Creamery. Toody greatly enjoyed quilting, crafts, baking (her specialty was kuchen), visiting, writing and talking to her grandchildren. Toody is survived by her husband Ed and three sons; Jeffrey (Elizabeth) Remfert of Rochester, MN, Patrick (Benita) Remfert of New Prague, MN, Donald (Dianne) Remfert of Olathe, KS; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elaine Bjornson and Lila Mae Hermes and one brother Edgar Beyer. She is preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and three brothers. Memorials may be given to the St. John UCC Cemetery, 624 Church Ave. , Hebron, ND 58638.
