Funeral Services for Gloria Dietz, 80 of Baker will be 10:00 a. m. Friday, March 17, 2006 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker with Pastors Bruce and Reba Kolasch officiating. Burial will follow in Bonnievale Cemetery in Baker. Visitation will be Thursday, March 16, 2006, from 10:00 a. m. to 8:00 p. m. at Stevenson Funeral Home continuing 1 hour prior to service on Friday. Gloria passed away on Monday, March 13, 2006 at Fallon Medical Complex in Baker. Gloria Mae was born in Baker, Montana on October 26, 1926 to Selma (Gregerson) and Flace S. Phebus. She was the oldest girl in a family of one brother and five sisters. She graduated from Baker High School in 1943. World War II began and Gloria went to work as a welder on Liberty ships in Portland, OR. After the war, Gloria married Franklyn Dietz and her only child, Randy Dietz was born in 1950. Franklyn and Gloria later divorced. Gloria enjoyed her working years, employed at the Baker Hotel in Baker as well as the Red Rock Motel in Miles City and also as a meter maid for the City of Glendive. She was a long time member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She spent her retirement years living independently, caring for her home and garden. Gloria is survived by her son, Randy Dietz of Billings, her brother Drury G. Phebus and his wife Ionia of Baker, sisters, Beverly Hill and her husband Bill of Billings, Ramona Shepherd and her husband Ronald of Baker, Joan Madler and her husband Francis of Spearfish, South Dakota, Sharon Helgeson of Billings, and her aunt, Leaphy Peck of South Lake Tahoe, Nevada. She was preceded by her parents, Flace S. and Selma A. Phebus.
