Gordon Emerald Rustad was born December 22, 1915 on the family farm in Golden Valley County, North Dakota, the son of Emil and Gena (Wang) Rustad. He received his education in Ollie, Montana and graduated from high school in 1934. His first job was driving truck for his dad?s Mobile gas business. Gordon married his high school sweetheart, Ada Bowen on November 29, 1935 in Ekalaka, Montana. After their marriage, Gordon and Ada purchased a red Chevy truck from Sax Motor in Dickinson, North Dakota and Gordon began a life-long love of red pick-ups. In 1957 they purchased two combines and trucks and custom combined in Kansas and northern Oklahoma from 1958 to 1963. Even though the work was hard and the hours long, it would provide lots of good memories in the years to come. In the 1970?s, Gordon and Ada went into the black angus cattle business where Gordon worked well into his 80?s. Gordon loved his wife and family. He loved good crops, black angus cattle and the John Deere ?H? Tractor that he broke sod with as a youth. Gordon was a hard working, soft spoken Norwegian. He took pride in everything from a well running machine to the accomplishments of his family. Survivors include a son, Gordon (Sharon) Rustad of Baker; three daughters: Janice (Nate) Lininger of Bowman, ND, Linda (Dick) Koenig of Houston, TX and Martha (Herb) Townsend of Laurel, MT; twelve grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
