Grace Maurice

Funeral service for Grace Opal Maurice, 89, of Plevna, MT, will be 10:00 a. m. , Saturday, May 2, 2015 at American Lutheran Church in Baker with Pastors Bruce and Reba Kolasch officiating. Burial will follow in Peace Lutheran Cemetery, Plevna, MT. Visitation for Grace will be 3:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. , Friday, May 1, 2015 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Baker with a prayer service at 7:00 p. m. Grace passed away Sunday, April 26, 2015 at Fallon Medical Complex in Baker, MT. Grace Opal Goings was born September 9, 1925 in Durham, Missiouri, the daughter of Joseph Melvin and Turah (Casey) Goings. She grew up and attended school in Durham. On July 12, 1941, Grace and Leon Wiseman were united in marriage. To this union eight children were born: Marge, Milton, Marcie, Jerry, Rita, Sandy, Dave, and Shawn. After the Mississippi River flooded in 1946, the family moved to Baker; settling on the Leon Huber Ranch south of Plevna. The family later moved into Plevna. Grace married Jerry Maurice on February 24, 1968, and Shannon was born into the family. Grace worked for the City of Plevna making sure the town and parks were well maintained. She enjoyed babysitting for many families. She loved her home and yard and enjoyed having them full of children. She loved all animals, especially her dog, Cuddles. She enjoyed her garden, yard, quilting, dancing, canning, and jelly making. She was a dedicated Plevna Cougar and Baker Spartan fan and would often have advice for the referees, when she attended games. Family always came first and she loved her children and grandchildren dearly. Grace was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church of Plevna, Ladies Quilting group, and former member of The Eastern Stars. Grace is survived by her husband, Jerry of Plevna; children, Marge (Rodney) Griebel of Plevna, Milton (Jean) Wiseman of Cleveland, UT, Rita (Tony) Breitbach of Baker, Sandy (Paul) Myhre of Sealy, TX, Dave (Sonja) Wiseman of Baker, Shawn (LaVonne) Wiseman of Baker, and Shannon (Jana) Maurice of Temecula, CA; 23 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchldren and 1 great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Turah Goings; daughter and son-in-law, Marcie and Vernie Jardee; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Terry Wiseman; great-great-granddaughter, Chezni Icopini; sister, Mary Spratt; and brothers, William Goings, and Joe Hurst. Memorial donations received by the Grace Maurice Family will be applied to a local charity determined at a future date.
