Funeral Services for Gustaf Mittelstedt, 93, of Dunn Center will be 2:00 p. m. on Monday, July 12, 2004 at Normanna Lutheran Church in Dunn Center with Pastor Aanen Gjovik celebrating. Interment will follow in the Dunn Center Cemetery. Visitation is Saturday, July 10, 2004 from 1:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson and Sunday from 1:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel, Killdeer and Monday from 8:00 a. m. to 11 a. m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel, Killdeer continuing at Normanna Lutheran Church in Dunn Center. Gustaf passed away Thursday, July 8, 2004 at St. Benedict?s Health Center. Gust was born April 21, 1911 to John and Matilda (Haerter) Mittelstedt on the family farmstead north of Dunn Center. He grew up and attended schools in the Connolly School District #3, School House #1 for 8 years, then he began helping on the family farm. Gust married Ella Mjolhus Fandrick on May 20, 1962. In 1965, Gust moved into Dunn Center and in 1966 he began the Corner Shop. He became involved in the city government of which he served as mayor or councilman until 2004. Gust enjoyed traveling throughout the western United States and Canada. He never did retire. Being involved in the Dunn County Historical Society and Museum was something that Gust really enjoyed. Gust cared greatly for the well being of Dunn Center. He loved and enjoyed his family, especially his sister, Ella. Gust is survived by one sister, Ella Guenther of Dunn Center, one sister-in-law, Emma Weisenberger of Dickinson and numerous nieces, nephew and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Ella, brother, Herbert Mittelstedt, sisters, Agatha Weigum, Emma Schroeder and Frieda Buehner.
