A funeral service for Guy Connell, 80, of Dickinson, will be 10:00 a. m. , Thursday, March 26, 2015 at St. John Lutheran Church in Dickinson with Pastor Lisa Lewton officiating. In accordance with Guy’s wishes his body will be donated to the University of North Dakota body donation programVisitation for Guy will be 1:00 p. m. – 5:00 p. m. , Wednesday, March 25th at Stevenson Funeral Home. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Guy passed away at his home on Monday, March 23, 2015 surrounded by his family. Guy Dean Connell was born September 13, 1934 in Medora, the youngest of eleven children of Byron and Gertrude (Reid) Connell. He was educated at the DeMores School in Medora, Graduating in 1952. Guy was very proud of Medora, his school and of being a four year starter on Medora’s successful basketball teams. He entered the United States Army in November of 1953, serving with the 3rd Armored Corps as a communications tech. He was honorably discharged in November of 1955. Guy married Caroline Grade On August 11, 1956 at St. John Lutheran Church in Dickinson. The couple was blessed with three daughters, Cathy Kaye, Lori Ann and LuAnn. Guy worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Co as a Lineman, Cable Technician and also engineering and supervising the placing of many miles of underground telephone cable throughout western North Dakota. He retired after 31 years of service in 1983. He continued to work at various jobs part time. Guy enjoyed the love of family, his many friends throughout western North Dakota and his Coffee Clan in the mornings at the Country Kitchen. Guy was an avid sports fan and faithfully could be seen at local sporting events. He was a member of the American Legion, Elks and he was one of the Telephone Company Pioneers. He will be remembered as a fun-loving, compassionate man. Guy is survived by his wife of 58 years, Caroline of Dickinson; daughters, Cathy (Jim) Murphy of Dickinson, Lori (Jeff) Senn of Omaha, NE and LuAnn (Scot) Senescall of Dickinson; six grandchildren: James Murphy, Candyce Murphy, Jeff Senn, Cody (Courtney) Senn, Katie Senn, Scot Senescall, Shawn (Hannah) Senescall, Sehelby Senescall, and one great-grandchild, Mackenzie; sisters, Lucille Jacobson, WA; Bertha Shelley, FL; Dona Wood, FL. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Zella, Helen, Laura, Olive; brothers: Jack, Leslie and William. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be preferred to Heartland Hospice 986 2nd Ave West, Dickinson, ND, or the Medora Cemetery Association. Guy’s family would like to send a heart filled thank you to Janessa and Wendy with Heartland Hospice for all the loving care they gave Guy.
